Turner August was, like everyone else at W&M arrested by WMPD from 2015-2018, entirely innocent, and known to be innocent, when he was arrested. No evidence. He was, as they say, "framed."
He was arrested on April 6, 2018, one month before finishing his freshman year. And he remains today--this note added on Friday, July 30, 2020--in a state prison. He has 2 years, 4 months, 23 days more to serve for a crime he was totally innocent of, something he did not come close to doing.
And he is in a prison. Lunenburg Correctional Center.
Mike Wilson, faculty member who was also completely innocent of the crime the College claimed he committed, finished his 3 1/2 year sentence (shortened due to good behavior) a year and a half ago.
Both Mike Wilson and Turner August were charged with the same crime. It was "possession of child pornography" What is this crime? It is: easy to frame someone with. Wilson was charged with four counts. August was charged with six counts.
Mike Wilson was arrested on February 19, 2016. I was first arrested on February 28, 2016. I almost crossed paths with Mike at VPRJ (the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail). My first cell block assignment was B3. Bravo 3. It was mid-May 2016. The cell blocks have leaders. When I introduced myself to Ken Vigil, he looked a bit surprised. Before replying, he turned and called out to someone who turned out to be the other leader: "Lenny, ANOTHER William & Mary professor."
I learned a great deal about Mike Wilson at VPRJ. I read the letters he wrote Ken. He was extremely religious. He lived in Richmond, like me, and I was able to see him before his trial. I explained to him how I could keep him from going to prison. He had decided that he wanted to go. As I say in the video below, I'm not comfortable talking about Mike's decision in this case. He entered a guilty plea on all four counts.
I have tracked every single falsely arrested student, staff, and faculty member. Possession of child pornography is a Class 6 felony, punishable by up to 5 years in jail. The judge was McGinty, who throws everyone in jail, no matter what. You can tell from the newspaper coverage that Mike was an unusually sympathetic guilty person.
If anyone wants to check up on arrested community members, start with the Williamsburg/James City County Court site:
http://www.courts.state.va.us/courts/gd/williamsburg~james_city_county/home.html
McGinty sentenced Mike Wilson to 20 years in jail. He suspended 16 1/2 years of that sentence. Watch the video if you want an explanation.
Remember: Mike did not possess any child pornography. He did not download any child pornography. No one who is arrested by the College has committed the crime they are charged with. All crimes are totally made up. No evidence is provided; none is needed. This is how the system works.
Turner August did not go to trial. He was charged with six felony counts of possessing child pornography. He didn't do anything wrong, and he knew that made no difference. He was able to make this bargain: guilty on one charge in exchange for dropping the five other charges. Sounds like a good deal unless you remember that all of the crimes were totally made up. They do not exist. They never existed.
There is room to have your sentence reduced while in prison. Mike Wilson was sentenced to 3 1/2 years; he served 2 years, 10 months, 15 days.
Turner August was sentenced to 5 years. I have been monitoring his progress. He was incarcerated on Sept 11, 2019. When I first looked up his name in the system, no release date was indicated. No such date was indicated through all of 2020. Finally, just a few weeks ago, his release date appeared. He is scheduled to get out of prison on Dec 20, 2013. He will have served 4 years, 3 months, and 9 days at that point.

In the video below, which I prepared for faculty leaders Cathy Forestell and Sophia Serghi, I note that I was in jail.
I tell Cathy and Sophia: "Jail is like a 5-star hotel compared to prison."
Sitting here now, just over a year later, I don't recall saying that. But it is correct. I should have added, inmates are treated by other inmates in accordance with the crimes they are alleged to have committed.
Does anyone know how an inmate who is said to be guilty of child pornography is treated in a state prison?
It is incumbent on the faculty at the College of William & Mary to get
Turner Christian August out of prison without delay.
Getting this done will not be too hard. The key is to make clear to everyone the following points:
- you are not investigating,
- you are not making accusations,
- you are not embarrassing anyone,
- you don't care how Turner August got there,
- you don't care who is responsible for his being there,
- you just want him out because he is innocent.
Turner August was an innocent W&M student--a freshman at the time of his arrest. He did not get to finish his freshman year. Had he not been targeted, he would have graduated in May. He faces more than 20 years of probation when he is released.
"This is how the system works"
I would do it myself, but he was arrested after I signed the legal settlement with the College of William & Mary. When I signed that agreement, I was agreeing to make no new trouble. Therefore, I am not going to involve myself in the process to get him out of prison. I ask the faculty to take the lead on this issue. I call on them to act without delay.
Turner was arrested on April 6, 2018. He was sentenced on Sept 11, 2019. He spent a few months at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. That's where I spent all 103 days of my incarceration. Then he went "up the road." Meaning, to a prison. That is inmate talk. (In the video I made last year for Cathy and Sophia (below), I make the mistake of saying "down the road" at first.)
Turner August has been incarcerated for 1 year, 10 months, 19 days. He committed no crime. No one ever claimed to have evidence of what sent him to prison. Again: This is how the system works.
Turner August should not serve any more time in prison. Not one minute.
I will close by asking this question: now that the faculty know of this situation, how can they have any priority higher than freeing Turner August?
If no one makes this effort, he will not be released until December 20, 2023.
IT MIGHT BE HELPFUL IF I MAKE ONE MORE POINT:
TURNER AUGUST IS THE ONLY W&M PERSON CURRENTLY INCARCERATED
FROM THE TERRIBLE PERIOD WHEN JOHN POMA WAS HERE.
In the month of April 2018, 21 W&M students, 1 W&M staff member, and 1 W&M faculty member were arrested.
Does everyone remember the "drug investigation" by the Williamsburg Police Department that led to news the College found "surprising and disappointing"?
In the system of fake charges, in this case based on a fake investigation, everyone is found guilty no matter what. No one ever gets off. If you think about it, this is just what you would expect. In the case of the drug investigation, I was able to intervene and get one of the students' charges null prossed. I will leave it to everyone to see who among those students was not found guilty. Read the Flat Hat article (included in the attachment). Then go here:
http://www.courts.state.va.us/courts/gd/williamsburg~james_city_county/home.html
Hint: the one who got off is the one who suddenly got Tommy Norment for legal representation.
The video I made for Cathy and Sophia was made before the sentencing of Gi Sang Yoon. Somehow, he escaped without prison time, had the felony reduced to a misdemeanor, and the charge was dismissed. How did that happen?
I am attaching the file "WPD arrests." President Rowe got a copy of this report on Feb 17, 2019. The answer to the question, "How did that happen?" is "President Rowe."
I seem to be the only faculty member supporting the president. I am the only one providing her with information she can use, and has used, to advance her agenda.
When Turner August is released, the nightmare of John Poma's presence on campus will finally be over. It will not end as long as Turner August remains in a state penitentiary.

WILLIAMSBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT ARRESTS
April 17, 2018
Questions to Major Riley of the WPD revealing a
suspicion that there was no drug investigation, just a bunch of arrests on invented drug charges.

wpd_arrests.pdf |
Major Riley replies with a new account of the drug investigation. Media failure, it turns out. However, his revised account of the drug investigation makes no more sense than the first, and it confirms that, if such an investigation did take place, it could not possibly have led to the arrest of 10 people on the W&M campus.
Since President Rowe has received documentation establishing just this point, Major Riley's reply is redacted here. If the president knows, it does not matter who does not know. I do not wish to embarrass the Williamsburg Police Department. - D. Dessler
GI SANG YOON: CLASS 5 FELONY REDUCED TO MISDEMEANOR AND THE CHARGE IS DISMISSED
July 13, 2020
Report to President Rowe revealing that there was no "drug investigation," only arrests that claimed there was one
Since the president, the only important recipient, was able to review this information, this copy redacts sensitive information.

THE TWO PROFESSORS ARRESTED IN ADDITION TO DAVID DESSLER - MIKE WILSON AND GI SANG YOON
Wilson and Yoon, like everyone else at W&M arrested by the College from 2015-2018, were entirely innocent and known to be innocent when they were arrested. There was never any evidence. They were framed. This is how the system works.
Note: this is a video presentation prepared for the faculty leaders, Sophia Serghi (President of the Faculty Assembly 2016-2017) and Cathy Forestell (President of the Faculty Assembly 2016-2017) in the first week of July 2020. Unpolished; not meant for the public.
