If faculty and administrators are having difficulty seeing that the "hospitalizations" policy must be ended, do not listen to me. I suggest going to the Board. They will tell you: "Well, yes. Of course. We can't have fear on campus." - David Dessler, July 27, 2021
THE PRIME DIRECTIVE
ACTIVITIES THAT CREATE FEAR OR NEGATIVE EMOTIONS MUST
IMMEDIATELY CEASE.
POSITIVE EMOTIONS MUST BE FOSTERED, THE ROOM FOR SELF-DETERMINATION EXPANDED, AND SAFETY ASSURED.
According to McKinsey, there is a linear relationship between racial and ethnic diversity and better financial performance: for every 10 percent increase in racial and ethnic diversity on the senior executive team, earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) rise 0.8 percent.
The gains require more than just bringing in people who are or look different. The right relationships between them must be created. For example, new and different workers must feel included. If we call the totality of relationships a “community,” we can say that, for diversity to accelerates innovation, one must have the right community structure.

1. What are the biggest individual inhibitors of innovation?
Fear.
2. What are the key attributes of an innovator?
Having the CEO own and role-model innovation behaviors through her or his thinking, listening, and relating.
3. What are the key things that a company can do to accelerate innovation?
Create an environment that cultivates Positivity, meets their innate needs for Self-Determination, and gives them Psychological Safety. Positive emotions enable and enhance cognitive processing, innovative thinking, and creativity and lead to better judgments and decision making.
On the flip side, research has shown that negative emotions—especially fear and anxiety—have the opposite effect. Fears and anxiety in the workplace can take many forms, including fears of looking bad, speaking up, making mistakes, losing your job, or not being liked.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN, IN PRACTICE?
AS A FIRST STEP, IT MEANS ENDING IMMEDIATELY ANY DESTRUCTIVE
PRACTICES THAT CREATE FEAR AND NEGATIVE EMOTIONS
THE PRACTICE OF "FORCED HOSPITALIZATION" MUST END IMMEDIATELY
BECAUSE THIS PRACTICE IS UTTERLY IRRATIONAL AND SERVES NO ONE'S INTERESTS,
NOT EVEN THOSE WHO CARRY IT OUT, ENDING IT SHOULD NOT BE DIFFICULT
